Title: Tailgate wiring help
Post by: LowlifeDubber on 24 May 2011, 19:11
Right lads, thought id ask on here before i bust out the wiring diagrams.

Ive recently swapped my tailgate for one ive smoothed.Ive been plumbing the wiring back in today and as the only thing i will need power to is the boot popper and the rear demister i did away with all the other wiring.

I left the seperate loom for the tailgate in the old boot which has been scrapped(yeah yeah i know),now ive just realised that there is a 2 pin single connector on the locking mech.
Now im guessing this would have a plug on it and it will make the interior boot light turn on when the tailgate is opened.
Is this right?
Ive noticed the alarm is a little bit mardy and goes off randomly now.

So if a trace the 2 wires that would have gone to the locking mech and bridge them, this would in effect fool the car into thinking the boot is always closed?
Im guessing the circuit is normally open until the boot is shut?

Any help will be met with a packet of Haribo and a thanks.

actually fitted my boot popper yesterday and your right the two pin connector on the lock is for the boot light.
what i did was disconnect the light and tuck it behind the panel as dont see the point in it anyways. no harm in running without it. hope thats of a bit of help :)

Ah well at least i know what its for now
I wasnt going to use mine either as theres a bloody great amp in the way.But i wasnt sure if my alarm was tied into it as it randomly goes off now.
This might be because i havnt fitted the ultrasonics back in place since the screen has been out either that or the door pin switches might not be connected properly as thats one thing i never took off and the bodyshop did.

I just didnt want it to cause a drain anywhere with it not being connected.

What boot release button did you use?Im guessing the us spec one?

I used one out of a Saab turbo as i liked the flush look.
