Hi all, as all good student do at this time of year, I am looking to spend my student loan on this summers project.
Having just bought the missus a 2dr 8v for parts, I am going to be left with a fairly good shell plus other parts. Also, I have seen a local guy selling a Syncro for silly money, so am begining to see the formulation of my summer project. However, does the drive train go into the 3 door shell, or am i going to need to modify the rear suspention turrets a lot?
-
you'll need the syncro floor also. its alot of work!!!
-
Ahh, of course, for the front to rear drive shaft tunnel...?
The golf is a monocoq design isnt it, ie the fllor pan is integral to the shell?
-
Have to raise the boot floor too, to fit the rear diff in. Ever looked in the boot of a rallye ? aint much room for subs

Funnily enoghy my GF's dad has a Rallye shell outside his workshop, he is planning a lancia deltla/golf hybrid. May pop round and have a ganders.
Didn't relly look too closely when we were lifting the shell onto a trailer by hand.

weld the bottom of the sync to the top of the mk2 and you're away... in a fashion
