Hey all,
My next door neighbour just GAVE me has 3dr mk3 GTi 8v as he now has a company car.. admittedly it needs a bit of a clean inside and out but body work is sound no rust etc etc gunna give it a detail over the weekend i think.
Also its a non runner but ive just ordered:
New crank sensor
dizzy cap
dizzy arm
plugs
HT leads
Filter Kit
oil
new coolant bottle
will get some pics up tomorrow :)
couple of qustions which wheels do people prefer/reconmend?
also what fitment are the wheels on a mk 3 5x100??

nice dude and as above yes 5/100 and 16s are the most popular choice go any bigger abd you start to have problems

Each forum has a different general consensus, E38 prefer 17", here prefer 16"...
Personally, I like 15" on a 45 profile, but that does make you mentally low if you want to eliminate arch gap.
Most sensible choice is a 16" if it's gonna get dropped on it's arse.

15" with 195-50 tyres on, as VW intended. Also worth noting, if you go 15s and 45 profile, your speedo will be out, not by much, but it will be out.

I'm on 15†wheels with 45 profile tyres. Didn't no my speedo is out. Wich way out? Higher or lower?

Higher, but by less than 5%, so it's legal.
At 60mph (actual) your speedo will read 62mph.

The maximum is 17x8 wheels with 215/40 tyres.
And yes I still have the wheels and tyres to prove that!
