Title: VR6 master cylinder into 8v gti

hey all , ive just tried fitting a VR6 master cylinder to my little 8v and the unions are different sizes, does this mean that i need some adaptors to make the unions fit , or will i need to replace the unions and have the pipes re-flared , if its the first one does anyone know the thread size and pitch so that i can get hold og the right ones
