Title: Should I put my Cab on the track?
Post by: Bronze MK1 Cab on 31 March 2005, 13:37
I'm going to Castle Combe on 23rd April for the Spring Action day. I know that velly is putting his on the track, but can't make my mind up if to put mine on  :undecided: He's sorting out passes this Sunday at the Club GTI meet.

I'm thinking might just put it on for a 5 lap run and that's it. It's got new brakes and tyres and it's running great. Would I be a fool to put it on or should I just give it a go?   :undecided:

When I was still living in London, I used to go to occasional track days. I too thought like you. My cab was in perfect shape before each track day. After the day though, I had leaks here and then, clutch was starting to slip, brakes were half consumed and of course I started adding thing to my list that were needed. Better brakes, one more stress bar, stiffer rear springs etc etc.

So, if you can keep it just for fun and not become competitive with the rest of the boys, you'll be fine.

I would say do it.

It will be treated as you want to treat it, no worse. If you get half way round one lap and think "F*ck, I'm killing my new brakes/tyres" then you slow down and come off at the end of the lap. You drive as hard as you want to.

I would rather do it, and come off if I didn't like it, than not register for it, and spend the whole day wishing I had.

Go for it, you'll love it (and you won't kill your car, trust me).

Cheers for the advise mate   I hoping that it's be fine if I just take it out for 5 laps  :undecided:

I had a good practice against Velly last night, until we reached a police car in front of us

Llandow very very hard on tyres....you wont notice any wear after one session at combe
