OK, so today I was busy so really couldn't have a great look or get any photos.
But I've seen a GTi on a drive.
Red but gone green with moss, inside has mildue and mould, horrible 17" chrome alloys that have corroded like mad, brake discs just knackered rusty.
Was a colour concept, steering wheel ruined though and the leather looked in OK nick actually but just needed a serious clean up.
The whole car needed a DAMNED good clean and would be OK, was fairly straight.
Had a SS exhaut on it. Guy was well busy, no idea on the miles, but the panel work was straight.
Late indicators, N reg and had a roof aerial. 16V?
What would you offer, 5 door, rear tints.
Doubt I'd want the car, I'd probably just break it and take the engine and interior. Also it had the orange needle dials.

Going by your description about £50 tops

I will pay up to £250 for a MK3 without T&T providing there is parts i can take off, and parts i can sell. Weighing up the price of buying those parts, and how much you will make selling, then the scrap value of the rest of the car.
If its leather, with a few other goodies, and a good engine, could even be worth more if its solid, just needing a good clean.

Depending on what engine I'd say 2-300
But you would make some of that back by selling me the boot struts and door check pins for potter! Lol

£250 to £300 tops

OK cheers people. Will pop back ask mileage and get some pictures.
Might go with £150.
What's the worse that could happen?

5dr 8v = Not worth alot to be honest.
£200 depending on mileage.

If it is a CC then its deffo only an 8v. 5 door also knocks it down a bit. Also, N-reg sounds a bit early for the CC's, IIRC most were sold on a P or R plate.
Plus with what you say on its overall condition its only going to be worth £400 TOPS as a going concern (assuming it starts stops and runs).
Fire in with a £150 opener, break it and make a nice wee drink off it.

Why would he drink his wee?

Most importantly when was it last taxed and MOT'd?
I'd offer him £50 just to get the eyesore off his drive!
