Title: Wastegate Chatter
Post by: Granta Gti on 22 May 2011, 13:07
A couple of months ago i changed the N75 frequency valve on my 1.8T to the ECS race one, since i have done that i get wastegate chatter, i like the noise but just curious what causes it ?
I still have the stock bosch DV which i will be changing soon but wander when i change it to the forge 007 will i still get the noise i.e. am i only getting the noise because the stock one is shot?

all of the above. It's not wastegate chatter anyways, it's the blades stalling against the now static air in the turbo

You uprated your n75 for what reason ?? and didnt fit a 007p ??

The standard N75 is good for more bhp than you will be running.. and also the ECS 'race' valve im sure is just a N75 off a rs4 or similar..

It's the one on the awesome website and someone was getting rid of theirs cheap so I thought I would try it and got the forge 007p to fit at a later date.

I personally would keep the standard N75 valve.. i know someone with just shy of 400bhp on standard n75.. and if you fit uprated items the map should be adjusted and suited

1.8Ts dont suffer from wastegate chatter, the noise it the charge air returing back out the turbo and getting chopped up by the compressoe wheel and stalling the turbo. A faulty Dv will cause this sound and needs to be fixed asap.

PS
Sell the ECS (Audi TT) N75 valve and keep with the correct one for your car.
