Park it in the sea for a couple of weeks.
-
sand the whole thing and let it rust!
-
haha i think the sea is a bit extreme lool
yeah was thinking of sanding it as the paintwork is dodgey anyway!
just gonna drive it into the ground really its and old motor with a lot of miles on it so i wanna just do something cool with it! :smug:
-
Get rid of them FORD wheel trims to start off with
-
Lower it
-
yeah lowering is a must and thats the first thing ill be doing, wheres a good place to get cheap coilovers that will fit the car?
hahaha theyre not ford they are peugeot and they are gone haha!
-
Step 1: get a new VW badge.
Step 2: lower it.
OPTIONAL STEP 3: get some decent wheels.
Looks like a decent shape mk3 tbh, ratting it would be a waste.

If you wanna rat it but the body works infairly good nic then you could go to a scrappy n buy another mk3 bonnet, sand that one back n let it rust? You can get cheap coilovers on ebay hottuning, Jom, jamex and fk are the most common ones, there's about a million posts about coilovers in the mk3 section so just do a search
-
Dont rat it
Alloys, lower, fix all the little odds and ends, polish, polish and more polish.... Spay up the bumpers too. Bring back the former MK3 glory!
Nothing beats the look of a MK3, looking as good as they day it left the showroom, and so easy to achive. A good machine mop and wax would do your paint wonders.
-
I also agree don't rat it. Ratted mk3 golf's just look crap in my opinion, polish it up and colour code some bits, get some gti headlights and rear lights, and tint the indicators and side repeaters.
-
Rat look is w@nk in my opinion. See too many saxos and corsas covered in rust and stickers where I am. The only cars I think look ok rat are rat rods, and even then I think they could look better with a lick of paint.
Otherwise, bit of battery acid or brake fluid (be careful!) will speed up the corrosion.
-
When you sand it back, rub some pig fat on it and apparently it speeds up the rust process!
If you are just running it into the ground,
1, Hang some sort of cuddly toy that scrapes the ground
2, Chop the springs
3, plaster with stickers
4, Smash out the cable ties!!
I quite like the rat look to be fair though :embarassed:

to be fair the motor it self is in good running condition considering its just hit 111,000 miles but the paint work is bad heres a picture of the side of the car you can kinda see how bad the paint is but it has all cracked and split close up! Its only just run in!

Machine polish it, wax it, then wax again! Paint will look stunning, then address any scratches/rust etc...that wasnt removed by the polish, Spray up the bumpers, fit some tidy wheels. sorted.

Paint looks alright in that picture. As people have said a decent clean up will make a big change. The paint on my mk3 was seriously nice after a good clean despite it being a bit manky beforehand.
