Title: key fob

hi guys car would not lock off fob fitted new batt. car opened but windows dropped then wouldnt lock, locked it with key o.k i noticed if you press the unlock on the fob the red light flashes for about 30 secs or more. changed batt again opens first time o.k then locks o.k second time opens and windows drop/red light flashes again for 30 secs or more. i have mislaid my spare set so cant try those. i suspect the fob is faulty any ideas.

Sounds like your contact switch is sticking. On the mk3 some have a total closure system, and if the button is pressed for 5 seconds, the windows will close automatically. I know your saying they are opening when you unlock it, but this could be what they are supposed to do. As you are saying the led is flashing for about 30 secs afterwards, it would deffinately suggest the button is sticking though.  :wink: :smiley:

stripped the fob the small pin which contacts the button was sticking lubricated it with fairy liquid and at the moment its o.k rang dealer the fob can be bought separately £48 plus vat. found a dealer on e bay £9.99. the whole fob blade etc. £160 plus vat from dealer inc. re-programme ouch!
