Hi, i spent hours googling the answer to my problem and after finally finding it i thought i would post it on a few VW forums, hopefully it will help somebody else!
I recently Purchased a really Clean MK3 Cabrio but it had the 'VAG UK Advanced Remote Control Security System"
the alarm/immobiliser seemed to be fully working the problem was the stupid Passive Arming Feature thats selected at time of fitting!
so to cut a long story short after searching for installation guides etc to find out how to disable it, i found out Scorpion make the alarms ad they went bust in 2005 of something!, but there back on the scene and its the same people as before, i emailed the tech support and in the end spoke to the on the phone the chap told me the procedure but stressed that there is a fairly big chance it will cause problems with the immobiliser as its such a old system!.
i bit the bullet in the end and did it and its fine!
So from the horses mouth.... under NO circumstances disconnect the battery, find the alarm control box behind the glove box, carefully unplug the connectors out of the top there was 4 on mine two big and two really small, then flick DIP switch 4 back into the OFF position, plug it back in and job done, no passive arming
do this a your own risk i have posted it in good faith hoping it helps somebody!
but in was all fine on my car!
