Hi guys,
Came home from a days shopping to my mum saying her oil light was on.
To my surprise, it's used it all, ideas?
Car has only done just over 4k miles, had the same problem with my old 1.4TSI Cupra, but that was 16k miles.
These engines seem more trouble then they're worth, while I'm here, when her turbo spools up, it makes a weird noise like it's actually discharging air? Is that the norm for K03 turbos? And I don't mean when you take the foot off the gas, I mean when you're hoofing it :)
Cheers,
Dan.

New cars use a lot of oil as the parts are all new and generate more friction whilst bedding in. Not to mention going 4k miles without checking your oil once is a bit silly.
You will hear the turbo on acceleration but if you're worried then get the car scanned for faults by the dealer.

Not normal.
Mines done 15k. I checked the oil before the first service and it was full.
Just checked it again - full.

Same here, not used a drop in 22K, visit to the dealer me thinks, hope all is ok.

VW say something like up 1 litre per 1000km is acceptable.
Some use way more than others.
-
Mine never uses a drop unlike it's owner.

Are you sure your Mum's car didn't accidentally get a 1.4 TSI put in by the factory, Dan?
That sounds a bit dodgy and I'll echo the remarks here about getting it into a dealer quick-smart.

Get the dealer to look at it.
Audi are getting a bit of bad press at the moment for a number of engines using very high levels of oil.
Read of one where the owner had spent over £100 in between services on top-ups. Audi said it was normal but the dealer paid for the oil at the service as goodwill. Not heard anymore of it since though.
-
Dan: Was the oil level correct the last time you checked?
-
Mines used about 200ml in 3500 miles from new and to be honest it was just me being arsey filling it up as it could have gone to service time in July.
-
Dealer would have been the last person to check I would of thought, doubt it though...
Car was bought as ex-demo with 1200 on it.

Top it up.
Keep an eye on it and if it drops again take it to the dealer.
Either it was not full to start with or it has a leak.

I agree with GolfTi. It has been known that if a monkey did the oil change, it was probably not properly filled.
