Title: finished painting my center console+rear door handles!
Post by: rolty_gti on 19 May 2011, 18:29: finished painting my center console and rear door handles yesterday and fitted it all back in after work earlier.thought i'd do a mini run through of what i did.
after removing the parts i wanted to paint these are the steps i took to paint them,

wet sanded parts until 'etched' finished appeared,
clean/degrease parts with meths/paint prep
1 coat of primer allowed to dry overnight
wet sanded primer smooth once dried
clean/degrease with meths/paint prep
2-3 coats of colour(i used the body colour of my car 'satin silver' :cool:)(10-15 mins between coats)
2 coats of clear laquer
left to dry overnight
re-fit parts, job done! :wink:

rear handles removed(use a flat tool/screwdriver to prise the cover off)

Really like how it's turned out,even get the flicker of blue in the satin silver paint just like the body!
will be getting to work on some other interior bits soon as i get a chance.

Will be doin the front door handles tomorrow and thinkin up some ideas of what i can do to the door cards.what i've done isn't to everyones taste but i like it :grin:
