finished painting my center console and rear door handles yesterday and fitted it all back in after work earlier.thought i'd do a mini run through of what i did.
after removing the parts i wanted to paint these are the steps i took to paint them,
wet sanded parts until 'etched' finished appeared,
clean/degrease parts with meths/paint prep
1 coat of primer allowed to dry overnight
wet sanded primer smooth once dried
clean/degrease with meths/paint prep
2-3 coats of colour(i used the body colour of my car 'satin silver')(10-15 mins between coats)
2 coats of clear laquer
left to dry overnight
re-fit parts, job done!
rear handles removed(use a flat tool/screwdriver to prise the cover off)

which pics would these be? the only place i put duct tape was on the table to hold down the newspaper lol! masking tape was used to mask up the edges of any pieces i painted, done a fair amount of spraying before mate,i know what i'm doing.

i don't see what the problem is?it's holding down newspaper!i'm not saying you don't know what your doing but i just don't see what the big deal is with using duct tape for taping up the newspaper on the table?

because of what duct tape is made out of, it can quite easily contaminate the parts and react with paint
-
i think he's refering to this pic with the duct tape masking, if you look its masking tape sprayed silver, i did think it was duct tape to start with but a closer look you can clearly see its masking tape

Just by looking at the finished pics then the tape did not affect the paint whatsoever so where is the problem ??

The op clearly does not need help/tips as he has done the job very well and is experienced in this sort of job. He has just tried to show his handiwork off to others but people are ranting about what tape he has used (or didn't use). Why the need to make a big deal out of nothing ??

There is actually a roll of duct tape in my outhouse, Im a little concerned as this leads directly into my kitchen, do you think I will be safe? I have a 6 month old daughter now need to be vigilant against things like this!   :lipsrsealed:

I suggest calling the A-Team and hiding away in quarantine mate.
