i searched through the forum trying to find out about anyone that maybe had a center console could give an opinion if their any good and also if they are easy to fit
Any feedback would be good thanks
-
Yes they are good, they are too low to be classed as an armrest though and id say it was more of a raised cubby hole with lid. they are very easy to fit and are only held into place with two screws. Not cheap though.
-
ahhh ok is thier not a way of raising it up high enough to be an arm rest. and do they take up much space if you see what i mean for handbrake and gear changing :undecided:

What type are you talking about exactly?
This?

more the one in your link or the right hand side style one :)
-
An aftermarket armrest then... I haven't had one myself but Im sure out of that lot on ebay there'll be one to suit your requirements. Should only be a few screws to fix it into position as well id have thought.
-
ok thanks for the adive ill look into it in more depth start saving some penny's up for one :)

I love that!!, is it OEM or aftermarket?

OEM US spec centre console.
-
That would lift the mk3 interior so much, that's going on my wishlist.

Really? I've got a highline rear console in mine (with the storage cubby and pop out ashtray, leather handbrake gaitor etc) so where does the arm rest fit on to? Got any detailed pics anyone?

Really, Ive never seen a factory fitted armrest in any?
This is the Highline centre console.

Yeah, thats what I have - I just havent seen a detailed enough pic of how the arm rest fits to it.

No mate, Im quite confident they didn't and have even just checked at least 10 different Highline interior photos to double check and they all had the type i posted in the image above. It's taller than the standard centre console with an added pocket / compartment plus they came with a different shaped leather handbrake sleeve but that's about the only differences.

Interesting, so the ones I have seen are running the usa spec then.
-
The only proper armrests Ive seen in a mk3 Golf have been aftermarket jobbies.

Highly likely.

I wonder how easy it is to incorporate one into a highline console? Anyone done it?
-
Like I posted earlier (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=mk3+golf+armrest) One of these type would be pretty simple to adapt into a mk3 Highline. I reckon.
-
im still keen to see pics of anyone hu has an aftermarket arm rest

I've got a couple of highline consoles in the garage and neither have armrests, i'm pretty sure it's only a US spec thing
-
Dom - Have either of you highline consoles have the leather handbrake gaitor attached, if so do you wanna sell one if it's in good condition?
I need one to fit another US spec console ive aquired which look crap with the standard handbrake.
-
2nd dibs on a highline centre console if you have one you want to sell
-
Neither of them have got handbrake gaiters attached which is partly why they are still in the garage and not in the car
Other than that one of them is mint, the other one is missing the rear ashtray. I could be persuaded to part with them so PM me if your interested and I can sort some pics out
-
I lied, there were some OEM armrests available at the dealers over 12 years ago but finding out the the part number let alone the actual part is going to be ridiculous I reckon.
