Title: is my paint code right?

Was told on here few weeks back my paint code was 1041. Plain not metalic black mk3golf gti 8v is that right?
I thought paint codes had letters in as well as number?
Am at work at the moment in work van using my blackberry and am going to pop into halfords when I get a chance and just wanted to make sure its right.
