I take it you are on about Hubcentric spacers..??? They are about £50-60 on the bay...Some of them come with longer bolts, and some come with shallow head bolts that bolts the spacer to the hub then you bolt your wheel to the spacer useing your original bolts...

hubcentric wheels spacers sit perfect on the hub where as universal sh!te doesnt which can cause wheel wobble

What width and offset are your alloys? From that you can figure out the look you want and what width spacers to buy.
Title: Re: advice on lowering (im finally gonna do it)

Hubcentric are the best option for anything over 5/8mm really.
Title: Re: advice on lowering (im finally gonna do it)
Post by: Dave_IOW on 20 May 2011, 07:35
Nav mate, on the front you need 5mm with a 57.1mm bore, thats it, 5mm cant get hubcentric. Make sure right center bore though, not universal.

Then you can get your coilovers on.

See what you think, then if you want to space back out, get rear ones then. Bolt through hubcentric ones can be found from about 40 quid i think.

Dave woudnt it be good get hubcentric ones as heard the other spacers give wheel wobble. Yh iv seen cheaper ones but they look crap quality

just loking at centre bore size. on the ones on ebay and essexstyling it is 57.2.. but on dpm it is 57.1  :undecided: which one are right
Title: Re: advice on lowering (im finally gonna do it)
Post by: Dave_IOW on 20 May 2011, 17:01
you aint gunna notice 0.1 of a millimeter mate, but its 57.1.

Nav mate, as long as the center bore is right for 5mm ones, you will be fine. You get wheel wobble with universal spacers that dont sit central throwing your balance out.

My front ones were about £7 posted i think, i run rear 16mm ones, pretty much the same as you posted.

Remember you will need new locking wheel bolts too, get four longer ones, after working out which ones you need eg. standard legnth + 15mm, then cut the front ones down to suit.

wolverine: I can vouch for 5mm, i had to get these as my alloys wudnt fit without them because of the coilovers on front. Been using them for nearly 3 months now and nothing to complain about and im using standard nuts.
Title: Re: advice on lowering (im finally gonna do it)
Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 23 May 2011, 19:13
I only put 5mm on rear too. Didnt need to as therear coilover setup is different and theres much more room for the alloys and tyres but with only 5mm on it does sit quite flush with the arch lining if im honest. The alloy width might have summit to do with it but not sure what they are. 8" maybe? not sure. Gen RS6's.

Think thats alright. Last time i bought standard bolts from VW new i think i was about £1.05 per bolt? That was 2 years ago so might be different now with VAT etc and VW continuously increasing their prices. Know what mate i foned and asked for a price for a 4mo front Valance/Splitter the other month and they said £88 inc VAT. It was only £53 inc VAT just before we got all that snow!
