Excessive White smoke is coolant seeping into the cylinders (head gasket). blue smoke is oil burning.
How bad is the white smoke though? Is it "cant see though the rear window" or "puffing out the exhaust a little"?  If its a little, it is probably condensation in the exhaust, caused by the car not gettting up to running temprature. (used only on short runs), you may also find mayo around the engine oil filler cap caused by short runs.

I can find no signs of mayo and its not losing coolant by the bucket load...erm on idle its just whisps of smoke on pulling away it not bad its just driving normally like along the flat in fourth it gets quite bad and when i slow down for junctions but underload ie pulling up hills booting it along bypasses there is no smoke at all. i followed her for a 20 mile drive yesterday and its fairly consistant, it doesn't stink, just dont look to attractive  are there any checks i can do?
