On my way home from work today, the trip computer on the car produced the following results:
Journey = 9 miles
Time = 1 hr 3 mins
Average speed = 9 mph
Average mpg = 17.7
So pleased with this.

Chuff: I feel blessed.
It's not the cost that annoys me, it's being hoodwinked by the official figures.
Oh, my dealership's Warranty Manager has moved into my street, 10 doors down. Now how weird is that? She is rather lovely.
Natural balance, sort of, has been attained.
-
I had an Evo 6 that returned low ninteys to a tankfull
Fun though
-
Aye, I used to see this type of mpg at a steady 70mph from a RX8. Having just come from a diesel I guess it's easy to focus on the running costs, IMHO it's always the depreciation that's the killer, I think we are well placed with the VAG (even though its feels like someone has put your testicles in a vice when you visit the pumps).
-
i can get that on a journey home. only 8 miles in 8 minutes no motorways...

O dear!

Easy, 55 litres in 8 laps of the Nurburgring and sprint GP circuit = 118 miles/12 gallons = 9.8 mpg over a full tank
Although mine was in the slightly less efficient MKV TFSI
Lifetime average over the time I had the car was 18.7mpg.

So far my 1year and 2 month avarage is 20.4 mpg. Charming, I say!

No Steve. Very much in love and lust. We are going to re-take our wedding vows soon.
The bad fuel consumption will not break the bank for me by a long stretch. What really p!sses me off is the over-optimistic mpg figures these manufacturers present us with.
I will always buy a petrol over a Diesel, because that's the sort of gal I am.
Now, who is the gal in the photo? Is that you? :undecided:

No asker, that's my very happy wife, receiving the keys..
My car gets used by me, in anger when I feel like it.

Thank you for enlightening me.
I sincerely hope your good wife uses you in anger too. It would be a shame to be left out. Hopefully, the reverse also applies with both you good people.

I was actually looking for sh!t mpg figures!
I'll see what I can do this weekend. Shouldn't have much trouble hitting single figures with a spirited drive through the lanes.

15 mpg easy on a fun run.
The 47 mpg journey was a very painful, careful journey of 12 miles to work.
I did it mainly to compare mk5 to mk6 to bluefin.
Result - mk6 around 3mpg better than mk5. Bluefin around 2mpg better than stock.
You do have to drive like a granny on prozak though...
I won't do it again. Ever. :embarassed: :embarassed: :embarassed:

BTW, my 3 mile run along the Marylebone road gives me an average of 7.9 mpg. I am blessed and blessed again.
I'll take a picture of the MFD next time I go through this living hell.

All this fuss about making cars more fuel efficient.
What about making the roads more fuel efficient...
Save a fortune and the planet.
Even the oil burners will have poor mpg in the traffic jams.

You know what? You may be right. All 3 pipes are a pain in the arse to keep clean. So I wash & dry regularly. Put it down as an Eastern thing!
Just had a go at all 3!
I know, TMI.

my old scooby used to get a regular pounding and returned around 6mpg, my previous Focus ST got a regular 13mpg and my golf gt tdi get around 23mpg but it gets hoof'd about quite regular....so much so the intercooler ate the turbo and spat the turbo through the floor,

I got similar without trying too hard on a similar journey. I was getting much more than shown below but the nearer i got to the petrol sation the harder it got drove
