Is the little rubber grommit that stops the plunger from shooting up in the lid of the brake fluid reservoir available from VW seperately. Mines perished so that it doesn't clip into place.
If not, would gluing it in place with my glue gun stop it from working as it should?

Mine has also gone so the stick inside just pops up i wouldnt glue it ,probably best to grab one from a breaker
-
Easier said than done. Working all week, and nearest breakers is at least an hour away
-
I can probably find the little cap, its only just fallen off. Just doesn't clip in any more, hence wondering if I could glue it
-
Suppose you could give it a go, plenty being broke on ebay maybe see if someone could be arsed to send ya one
-
gluing didn't work in the end
Fired off a few messages to people breaking to see if they have one, bet they cba to return the message on ebay as its such a small part
-
I just popped one out my local breakers yard but as you mention, contact someone who's breaking a mk3 on eBay or put up a thread in the 'wanted' section over in the classifieds as im sure somebody will be able to send you one for pennies or nowt.

I know a guy breaking a MK3 in Bedford.
I'll give him a bell and see if he has one. If so I can take it to work with me if any good?

I highly recommend the later type off the later polo/lupo/golf etc.. they are yellow and direct fitment, doesn't have the same issue.
-
That's what i picked up a few weeks ago, thanks for reminding me.
-
later golfs as in late mk3 or mk4?
-
As in mk4 onwards, If I remember rightly mine came off a W reg Polo.
-

did you swap the whole brake fluid cap? Or just the little push on bit at the top thats rubber on the mk3?
-
I haven't screwed it on yet as like mentioned above, I totally forgot I had it but yeah as far as im aware the you simply swap the entire cap, plug the cable in and bingo.
-
Sweet. Cheers guys, emailed a few people breaking later vw cars on ebay, so should resolve this soon.
-
Got one from a mk4 today off the bay, fits perfectly, all a direct fit. Cheers guys, there's no way this one will perish
