im thinking of lightening my flywheel on a 8v gti, can i just bolt a g60 one on or one from another model which is lighter or do i need to get the original lightened. Cheers guys
-
Can't use a g60 one, just need a 210mm 020 one off another gti 8v or 16v
-
wont that be already what i have though
-
Think 16v has 28splines on g/box input shaft, and 8v has 24 (smaller). So match it to whatever box your using, they all fit the crank the same...
-
yea but i want a lighter one
-
then send yours away to be lightened and balanced
-
to whom, i have no idea. thanks

Thats the friction disc, the gti flywheels are all the same.

Yes, but unless you want your car off the road whilst it's being done then you need to get another one to send away.
To be blatently honest mate you shouldn't waste your time or money as it's going to make negligable difference to an 8v gti. Save your pennies for an engine conversion if you want to go quicker.
If you really want to do it then look up a local engineering shop or if you can't find anyone then try hotgolf on clubgti

okies, its not a std 8v

Unless it's FI is still not worth it

FI, whats that

FI, whats that
Fuel injection
-
why does that make a difference, it is anyway
-

I'd say forced induction.
I'd also say that it is worth putting a lightened flywheel on a standard 8v...
