Title: Just bought an '87 MK2
Post by: NickH-D on 17 May 2011, 11:14
Hi all,

the weekend just gone I had a little roadtrip to go and collect a 1987 MK2 GTI, this will be my little project for the forseeable future :)

I presume I need to have a certain number of posts before I can make a project thread (tried that as my first stop).

The GTI came with some 17" wheels (not exactly the best match for a golf - will get replaced eventually), already dropped on coilovers, had a backbox fitted (again, not the most attractive, may swap it out as a last touch), the body panels are ok considering its age, a few holes and cracks etc have been filled, but been done well, so it needs a paintjob. Also the front and back bumpers are both an ugly incantation of the 'big' looking for a nice cheap set of small bumpers with splitters to swap them out with :)

I'll save pics for the project thread :)

My name's Nick, 24 from Bedfordshire by the way!

standard big bumpers is the route i have planned (with splitters), already sourced a set through bigboystoys, just waiting for a little spare cash to place the order :)
