ok, so my tank was nearly empty, well into the red, so i decided to give her a treat and fill up to the brim,£57.00.
58 miles later im on the 3/4 mark. is this right?

prob is about right i was worried about mine but people are saying about 240 miles for a full tank

mk3 GTI? tbh they ain't brilliant on fuel (one reason I won't own another one), and if thats including town driving, it sounds about right.

Yep sounds about right.

Going by the gauge will not be that accurate to determine fuel consumption. Run it till empty again, refill (full), and from the milage you covered since reseting at the last fill, and the volume of fuel you put in to refill it, you can calculate your MPG.
no of litres to fill the tank divided by 4.54 = no of gallons used.
MPG = milage covered divided by no of gallons.
Then you'll know for sure that its poor on fuel!

I get about 350 miles on 45 litres. Automatic 1,8 golf cl 55kw. Rouly 8l /100km .
