I like the colour coded door mirrors and door handles on the GTI's and was wondering if there was a way of colour coding mine on my CL.
Did any model of mk3 have non-electric colour coded door mirrors or was it just the automatic ones on GTI's? :(
Is it an easy job to change the door handles on a golf to colour coded ones or would you just leave those? Cheers :)

The mirror covers pop off, remove the mirror glass and push the prongs in pop the cover off. Door handles though, my 16v door handles arent colour coded and I havnt noticed any 3's with colour coded ones as standard, that said colour concept ones may have :undecided: I don't think it's that hard to get the handles off if you wanted to colour code yours

No mk3 had colour coded door handles.

Awesome thanks, I'll pick up a set of electric mirrors and just replace the covers on my mirrors once I've painted them.

Didn't know this :p As for this I'll just leave mine plastic black.

Why don't you post a bigger picture?
I find colour coded door handles only work on a certain colour of MK3, brighter colours like red, blue and white need a good contrast so black trim helps break it up.

Those are the types of handles that would confuse me. I'm used to pulling the handle on a MK3, if I were to go to open a door like yours on a MK3 I'd look like a silly billy.
Look good though. Was it and easy mod?

I know it's weird swapping from the two. you find you pull a normal mk3 handle from underneath lol.
I bought the car as it is in the pictures. Looking at the work the hardest part would be the metal fabrication

They look much cleaner / smoother than standard mk3 handles.

Does the boot lock work?

Think they are rear a4 handles because they have no locks. Through the boot if the battery dies for me too

Which then fails when the battery fails?

Ive already started fabricating an extra bonnet release but i need the car back to finish it.
I was more concerned about getting inside the car and if the battery is flat with no one to jump me off it aint gunna happen!
Soooo i have a small 12v battery out of an emergency lighting unit from work
(http://www.toolstation.com/images/library/stock/images/62033.jpg)
Which i will locate in the rear of the car (hidden)and it will be plumbed up to the rear boot popper on a hidden switch somewhere on the car. Then i can pop the boot and get to my battery booster

Jump start the car and be home in time for me tea!
The car will have a brand new battery on but you never know,sh!t happens.
