Title: VW golf MK3 16v Spark plugs

hi guys

i am just wondering what are the best spark plugs to buy for my gti and would i also need to get new HT leads aswell??

im new to the whole GTI scene as im only 18 and dont really know alot about the GTI's but keen to know more :tongue:

Hi mate go for bosch platinum plugs and ht leads should feel soft and supple otherwise change them,but dont buy el cheapo or youll be buying another set really soon  :smiley:

ohh thanks for the advice do u know what part number the bosch platinum plugs are? just wanna try and get some ordered soonish

Yes mate,part number F5DPOR,go to euro car parts and put your reg in ,hope this helps :smiley:

I've always used NGK. Awesome brand, cheap plugs (about £10 for a set of 4 from ebay). Part number is BKUR6ET-10.

u thrown another one in the mix haha whats better then spend the extra on Bosch or get the NGK need a optinion on performance of both  :undecided: :smiley:

A spark is a spark. There is no performance to be gained from spark plugs unless you spend £80+ on them special ones that give off a massive spark.

NGK's are great quality, great value for money and they've never let me down. They have 3 electrodes so for those who think 3 is better than 1, then it pleases them too  :smiley:

I found with the bosch i got better mpg, had ngk before, they are not a bad plug just had slight improvement with the bosch, cleaner burn and less sooty :smiley:

i like the sounds of a tenner money is a problem atm haha but better MPG will proberly save me in the long run not sure now :undecided:

I'd go for the NGK.. Never had any problems with them !!

You'll probably notice 0.1mpg improvement if that, and that';; be from having new plugs rather than fancy bosch ones. Unless the old plugs are completely shot and have lost most efficiency then you won't really see any improvement. Don't pay for the brand, pay for what it does  :smiley:

Always stuck with NGK ones myself. Just paying for the name with Bosch.

ok guys looks like ill take the NGK plugs then if its only a minimal amount of MPG increase might aswell save the money thanks for all your help guys i just gonna fit the little buggars now :)
