Title: exhaust tunnel brace thingy
Post by: VW BUSH on 14 May 2011, 22:04
The front exhaust tunnel brace bolts have snapped off on me GTI.
Question is do they screw through from the inside or captivated some how?
Changed the exhaust over from the GTI im stripping (ball ache and a half) and snapped off three in a row, after taking the time to clean and grease them up!

Will try and sort this out tomorow afternoon, I will also try and stop the pipe banging the heatshield grrr.
Also bigger pipe diameter of new exhaust has shown up that the engine mounts are buggered grrr
Good job ive got a donor car and plenty of skin on my knuckles

Yeah I know,  but while im under the car I might as well do something about it.
I was going to drill them through and tap them to a size and bolt up from underneath if it meant seats and carpet out

That would be only way if the studs have gone.
