Title: Symptoms of failing brake servo-Help please
Post by: jnielow on 13 May 2011, 19:19
Dear All,

I know the obvious failure is no brakes at all. But just wondered what the possible signs of a failing servo/air in the brake system etc. The reason I ask is I have recently noticed my brakes seem alittle different, ie alittle more spongy than before. The discs/pads all round are just over a year old still show no signs of wear. The brakes also squeak when the brake pedal is depressed only momentarily though and when I brake harder no squeak, then depress lightly again squeaks.

Any pointers would be welcomed!

Thanks

Jason

spongy brakes = air in brake fluid so brake fluid change would be first thing to do and check no air leaks in vacum pipes coming from servo

Bleed the system through as a 1st step.
