How much milk can Activision milk from sheep?

Interesting, cheers.

And so the hype begins! Can't wait!
For what? The only FPS that will be good this year is BF3 xD
P.S DO NOT confuse Battlefield 3 with any of the "Battlefield Bad Company" Series. The BFBC series we appalling compared to the Battlefield series.
-
Packed my ps3 away since playing black ops.
I hope this is as good as MW2. That was a good game!
-
good job you did as you cant play online any way

Same old engine by the looks of it.
BF3 is the only way forward.
-
How to make a Call of Duty game in 10 easy steps:
Step 1: Use an outdated game engine from 2005
Step 2: Insert crappy storyline about Russians and nuclear weapons
Step 3: Design a character that 12 year olds will perceive as "cool" and refer to him only by his mysterious call sign.
Step 4: Kill said character in a scripted event 2/3 way through the campaign.
Step 5: Kill key bad guy in another scripted event involving slow motion
Step 6: Add a halfbaked multiplayer mode. Make sure that there are plenty of glitches and imbalances and good places to camp.
Step 7: Profit.
Step 8: Release overpriced map pack.
Step 9: Profit some more.
Step 10: Repeat steps 1-10 until series has been sufficiently milked dry.

Am I right in thinking that this is the same engine as Block Ops (which was sh!t, sold it and gone back to MW2).

Yes, with 'Special' lighting effects lol

I don't understand people's gripes with the graphics. Black Ops graphics were great. And why has it all got to be about graphics anyway? So long as the game plays well (granted online can be a b!tch sometimes) then there shouldn't be much to complain about?

Because that is the whole point of releasing these games, they are meant to be progressive. Otherwise we would still be using the same graphics as per counter strike or Duke Nukem, as the game play was far beyond some of the stuff we have now, but the graphics were pap in comparison.
Games are meant to be immersive, I.E. fool our minds in to thinking that in some respects it is a real life person/vehicle we are controlling.
You wouldn't even look at games like GT or Forza if they looked like ridge racer now would you?
-
You have a point there Slick, although I don't think we are going to get much more out of these systems than what we do now. COD is a annually released game, they won't take the proper time to make it look excellent (compare to Gears of War/Forza etc).
Besides, they still have gameplay issues, what's the point in polishing a turd?
I personally enjoyed the single player of Black Ops, it did immerse me and it was a great campaign to play so I look forward to MW3. I still play it online a lot, but one of the main reasons is because my friends still all play it, it's a social event.
-
I would, I was good at ridge racer

Nah, I agree... Which is why I have the NES and the Megadrive set up in the front room!
But I did expect to see something new, or at least a leap forward in graphics considering the engine has been about for 6 years now.

Black Ops graphics werent that great at all. Motion Blur and dull graphics. The engine hasent progressed for years.

You people just want too much.

personally i think black ops was pretty much the final nail in the coffin, fair enough i still play it online a fair bit, but i also play mw2 online and occasionally cod4. The majority of folk buy the cod games for the online multiplayer aspect anyway, but you'd have thought that they might have done something better with the graphics over the years. That said, i agree with the comment about graphics not being overly important, i enjoy the odd game on TDU2 and that is far from being a pretty game in comparism to the graphics on offer from GT5. The GTA games look sh!te graphically but people still buy them.
Unless theres a substantial improvement in gameplay for mw3, i'll be skipping it and waiting for BF3...especially if its anything like medal of honor

Release date confirmed: 08/11/11
watch MW3 premier on www.callofduty.com on May 24th
-
Before PSN went down, a few mates and I went back to MW2 for a night. It was horrendously pants compared to black ops. The graphics looked worse (despite same engine) and ruined the gameplay IMO. Guess it's because I'm use to BLOPS graphics.
-
You console players are forgetting that the games graphics cant get much better as they are essentially using hardware thats been out of date for many moons now.
-
The hardware is old but it's not being pushed to it's limits. Look at MGS4 those graphics are incredible. It's just cost reduction and laziness on the developers part.
-
Idd, Xbox and PS3 hardware is terrible in todays standards... So much so that they cant play BF3 with the full Frostbite 2 engine xD lol
-
Yeah, buts its like anything. How much would it cost to get a top spec PC to run that game at full rez? Compared to the cost of a bog standard XBOX. You get what you pay for.

I prefer to pay for a good experience then a mess of sh!t graphics and bad online play.
Also... PC games new are £20-£25 or free and dont have to pay for DLC. Xbox/PS3 are £40-£50. Prices soon even out.

agree, lets not start pc vs console war. Everyone knows who is superior :lipsrsealed:
-
Fanboys are already jizzing themselves :D asking each other what gun's and stuff are appearing in-game.
-
a mess of sh!t graphics and bad online play.
Id hardly call XBOX and XBOX Live that.

No DirectX11, graphics cards running at 500MHz with only 10mb of DRAM. Its laughable how bad the graphics are. Try PC graphics before you comment, you don't know what your missing until you try it.
The online community consists of 14 year public sh!tters and there is no competitive play.
Gameplay is slow because you use a controller and not keyboard/mouse.
Low FOV.
No SDK meaning that nothing can be customised, vital for a game to survive. (Evidence with many CODs as they die quickly)
The graphics options consist of a few options. PC can customise the whole graphics options to their needs.
Yes, I can call Xbox and Xbox Live that
-
You might not think its as good as your £100,000 PC but its hardly "sh!t" and "bad" is what I was getting at.
-
You can't compare PC and Console gaming, they're totally different markets. PC gaming is for those who get very into it and are will to spend £1,000's on a rig. Console gamers jsut want something they can plug in their telly, turn on and enjoy.
I used to be a PC gamer back in the 90's but it cost so much on keeping it all up to date I gave up and swaitched to consoles as I don't play for hours every day.
PC's have better graphics for sure, don't know aboutonline play as I've not had one in years, but the costs over console gaming are huge even if the games are cheaper. Plus I don't have room for a PC in the flat.

Nick,
That is partially true, however your are slightly wrong on the cost. Hardware is constantly being updated as we all know. This means the old models gets reduced in price alot. However, the hardware being produced is always 100 steps ahead of the software and graphics engines being made.
This means that all that old hardware being sold cheap, as it is the older models can run the games at max settings easily. The new models are just there for the ethingy effect tbh.
For a gaming rig to play all at 100% graphics wont cost anything near £1000, more around the £350 - £500 mark, self built of course.
Not only have you got a gaming rig, you also have a general computer, eliminating the need to buy a computer/laptop to browse the web do work etc... So in the long run it is cheaper then having a console as it is a more efficient machine.
-
Normal gamers don't care enough. Only hardcore gamers.
Fair enough your PC is better, but for people who just want to chill out after work for half an hour (or more sometimes) on xbox live (or splitscreen if you have friends) consoles are the only real option.
Normal gamers like good graphics but won't pursue them in a monetary sense until a new console or game is released because it's not their hobby or interest... it's a nice commodity.

I don't have anywhere for a PC though, all the household computers are laptops.
I totally get why PC gaming can be better but it isn't cheaper for me it's much more expensive, I don't have the space and I like playing online and I don't know any PC gamers anymore. All my mates play consoles for pretty much the same reasons as me, space, cost and ease of use.

Pc vs console is like 8v vs 16v arguments. Completely f**king pointless, so hush up and talk about modern warfare ffs.
