HI guys,
I have a 2001 1.8 turbo ARZ engine. Ive heard its the worst engine to have out of all the 1.8t engines but was looking at getting it remapped. Its just its cambelt and water pump changed and has done 57K miles. Would it be worth getting it done or should i look at getting a KO3s turbo and bolting that on? cheers

Sorry to say the ARZ and APP 1.8T engine where the dogs... not balls but poop imo.
They run the early me.7 ecu which one used the narrow band lambda control, the eat MAFs for no reason, small turbo on small port head, crap emission control we always find the ARZ breather system to be in a wrose state compared to the AGU and AUMs??? But if the car is in good running order and running on good fuel, then the R-Tech remap complimented with a Pipercorss air filter and Forge 007p will easy push over 192bhp/225lbft, they make more power at spec1 than the AGU as we can run the turbo hotter and safe due to the compent protection mapping in thr ARZ ecu.
Going to stage 2 from stage1 using the k03 FMIC and turbo back exhaust will unlock another 10-15bhp 20lbft in the midrange and take the power power to 199bhp/235lbft tops, but with the stage2 mapping and fitting a Ko3s with OEM actuator should easy take you to a safe 215bhp on its own merits, then a stage 2 custom upto 250+lbft 240bhp.
If you do it right then its well worth doing, work your way up in steps and do try and go for k03s straight away.

Hi Craig,
We can offer you a remap with your current hardware if you don’t want to go spending £££££â€™s on turbo, FMIC, pipework, exhaust etc.
You’ll be looking at around 180-190HP depending on the health of your car at present.
It will be £275 (less introductory forum member discount of £100)
The only thing you will need to do is make a donation to the forum of £10
Any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Kind Regards,
Nick -Carbon
