Title: My first machine attempt with rotary. (Pic Heavy!)
Post by: Big Tone on 13 May 2011, 09:22

After planning and purchasing loads of stuff, this is the result, by no means perfect but a VAST improvement.

Yes, they are bin bags, polish is a TW*T to remove from wheels if left on.

I will take some decent photos on a good day in a better location.

Still to do;
Glass
Trim
Wheels
Interior
Front and rear bumpers
Number plates
And loads of mechanical stuff!

Products used;

Too many to mention!

I began to get the "feel" for what the machine is doing and varied things accordingly, sanding is a BIATCH though, getting 2000 grade wet and dry marys out completely is time consuming.

Anyway, this is two days work!
First, car has been clayed, just needs a good wash!

Bonnet before, you can see the stone chips.

After prepping the scratches and stone chips on the car, i went round and filled them with paint from the dealers.

wish i could do this to my car, polished it all up and it was filthy again the next day, crap off all the buses going down my street covers it.

have you got any before and after pics of the scratches on the wing? and how you got rid of em?

Rinse it every day :undecided:

This is the LH wing before polishing, you can see all the scratches and loads of small stone chips.
The entire car was heavily swirled and had been touched up (Poorly) in the past, this I found out when claying the car as it pulled the majority of them off.

(http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af99/Big_Tone_2010/GOLF6.jpg)

This is the RH wing, paint where scratched was prepped, then touched up, then left for about a month to cure (The weather was CR*P!), then I used megs QD and 2000Grade wet&dry, (2500 is better) to remove the excess paint down to a flush finish.

(http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/af99/Big_Tone_2010/GOLF7.jpg)

This is the wing after polishing up.

Hope that helps

Just to add, the scratches on the passanger wing were not filled with paint, they were polished out, only the very big scratches were filled about a month before.

nice work

the best way to tell if you have hit all the swirls is to look into a direct light source...

you can pick these little LED inspection torches up cheep
