Hi
Well I've managed to sort most things on the car with the help of Darren (Mortygt140) and most recently with Sam's (branchespark) VCDS cable - Thanks Sam you're a star
I have a couple of errors that I can't clear though - the first set is the outer rear lights - these are dimmer than the inners as myself and Darren were trying to clear my error from the LED number plate lights. I have also been getting two errors on the MFD saying to check the outer rear lights - I can't see what value I need to change byte 18 to though (currently at 04) to get it back to "normal" I've tried 00 but no joy on that one

The next set is related to my telephone install and I have 5 errors here ! Again, how do I remove these or should I not be worried about them?

do you the phone mod installed? or have you installed a new headunit and its come up with that error?
are you 100% there are nothing wrong with your rear lights?
-
richy
not sure what you mean by the first part of your post?
I previously installed an RNS 510 then last week I added the Bluetooth module
For the lights, the issue occurred exactly in time with trying to code out the LED number plates - it is the same coding that is ued when you have LED rears but obviously this is dimming the outer rears and the system is thinking the bulbs/circuit has faults.
Thanks
-
lol i understand your confusion, i've just reread my post and couldn't understand it either haha
it men't to say "have you got the phone installed.. ie the bluetooth. ha
ok so i think it might just need a correction with the RNS510 coding with the bluetooth.
with the LED numberplate lights depending on which ones you bought they throw up errors only a few don't so you would need to put the original number plate lights back in and clear the errors to not throw any up.. or find out which LED lights are 100% ok and don't give error's
or it might be a problem with the install?
-
Thanks Richy
I will swap out the LED number plates then see what happens
I think I still need to recode the central electrics to "non-LED" - I think Byte 18 which was changed to valule 100 needs tobe something else but I don't know what!!!
-
For the lights it is this Byte 18 that needs changing - it is currently set at 04 (Binary 100) - what should the value be for non-LEDs please? I have tried 000 but no joy.

-
The only value that worked for me before I got xenons was Hex 15, binary 00010101.
-
Thanks Mike - will give that a try and hopefully it'll remove those pesky light errors!
Cheers
Adrian

Hmm
That didn't work - outer rears still dim and the inner offside bulb is out completely.
<off to experiment>

There is a method posted in the US forums on how to reset Byte 18 if you start getting errors. I have included it below.
Not sure why they are setting it to 03 though.
I take it you have checked all the connectors as when I got my adapters a couple of the pins were not locked in properly.
I had byte 18 coded to 04 by mistake. What you need to do if that's your case, is recode byte 18 again. Here is the procedure. Before doing anything make sure all your doors are unlocked and that they are closed properly.
-Go to byte 18 in central electronics 09 and recode it to 03.
-Click either on byte 17 or 19 and byte 18 will stay to 03.
-Afterwards, close your long coding screen and click do it! New long coding will be accepted.
-Close all you Vag-Com screens, turn the ignition off and unplug the cable from the obd port.
-Get out of the car, lock your doors and wait at least 2 mins so that the bcm falls asleep.
-After that, unlock all your doors, turn ignition on, plug the cable back in and re-open Vag-Com.
-Go back to your long coding in central electronics at byte 18. Recode it to 00. Close your screen hit do it! And long coding should be accepted.
-Again, close all your Vag-Com screens remove the cable, turn ignition off and test your lights. Everything should be working properly.

Hi Buck Re your telephone install. I have the same module and had similar faults, try the following it should delete most if not all.
Byte 3-Dianosis antenna,change to 01
Byte 6-Control unit, change to 01
Good Luck Rob
-
Thanks Rob - will give that a go too!
-
Adrian if you have still got the VCDS cable change the 1 in 00000100 byte 18 to a 0 that will sort the a errors out once you have the original bulbs in your reg plate lights.
For the bluetooth did you delete the faults once every thing was fitted? if they came back up then go through the coding in the long coding helper most of it is self explanatory but if you get stuck post up what your having problems with and ill look in later.
by the way if you have a problem with stuff like the audio faults then just 00 them out on the byte,
The load management is to do with low battery, the central electrics module shuts none essential components down to save the battery totally draining once you have deleted all the faults it will delete itself.
Darren

Thanks Darren
This'll be tomorrow's job!
I'll run another scan tomorrow and see if any others have cropped up -hopefulyl will be all clear
