Title: mk1 golf with mk2 gearbox. Speedo issues

Hello all.

I'm new to mk1's so sorry if its been asked before (search wont work for me)

I have a mk1 golf with an ABF engine, abf management and mk2 gti gearbox. Now I want the speedo to work but not sure how I can go about this? right size cog, cable etc....

Im running 15'' wheels with a horrible 50 profile tyre!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Firstly... its amazing what happens after just a couple of weeks absence! when did you get a mk1!!... secondly what's the issues, does the speedo not work at all or is it reading incorrectly?

Picked up an ABF engine mk1 yesterday localy. Its got a mk2 gti box (need to check which one)

Speedo cable is bolted in but no movement in the speed needle. Just needed to know what gearbox cog I should use if its a KR box or normal 8v box. :smiley:

Its running 15's with 50 profile tyres if that helps.

BTW the mk1 is black non sunroof, fully poly bushed, mk2 gti 16v front brakes, mk2 gti rear disk conversion, mk4 rear calipers, 3 piece split rims, stainless exhaust and the best bit...running an ABF with full ABF management.  :cool:

I believe you need a mk1 gear.

You may find the gear has fallen off.

had a look at it. The cable has seized! Looks like a mk2 red cog but will find out.
