I am going to view an edition 30 tomorrow and have the number plate now.
My question is can I check on the history of the car by telephoning VW, like how many times it's been in and any warranty jobs?
I know I can with BMW, I can get where it was serviced and how many times it has been in the garage.

Don't know mate. Without trying to come across as rude and abrupt but try phoning them and asking?
The worst they can say is no.

Well you can't with your local branches, I just thought maybe there was a national number I could call.

yes you can bud although you may need to phone the specific dealer as some vw franchises have to manualy update to the main vw system, ive just bought a golf from scotland and vw only had the 1st service on record, i phoned the dealer where its been stamped up and they confirmed the history and told me why the main vw system hadnt been updated......lazy bleedaz

Ive just phoned my local stealer and asked for a favour in the past.

just check over the service book and ring up a few of the garages to confirm that whats written in the book was actually carried out. best of luck, lovely car.

Thanks, all.
The one I saw was an ex-lease car and was not looked after at all. Also didn't have centre arm rest and a few other things I wanted.
Still looking though.
