Title: Inner CV joints
Post by: Sam on 12 May 2011, 13:22
I can pretty much guess how they are done but is there anything I should look out for/be carefull of when doing it?

Nah not really, all pretty obvious.

Make sure you clean the heads on the driveshaft bolts though as the spline tool can slip if not in all the way. You can undo the bolts from the sides if you use a couple of long extension bars, much easier...

good shout about the spline key....i always tap mine in with a hammer once it's located to make sure she's in.....

i find the retaining clip can be a pain too...ends up pinging across my drive when I'm trying to refit!!

This.

And torque them back up in an 'alternating sequence' or whatever the right description is afterwards.

And latex gloves are handy to peel off your hand over the exposed end of the CV when it's off - stopping the damned grease getting everywhere.

Cool cool, so its all fairly obv stuff then, good tip with whipping the gloves over the end. I didnt know that they had a retaining clip either. Cheers lads, will get on this next week
