Title: Water tower
Post by: Sam on 12 May 2011, 13:17
Me and my mate went to a WWII water tower on an old airfield to take pics of our cars, but we couldnt get close enought so I just photographed the tower instead  Tell me what yaal think and please critique harshly (not that you need any encouragement  ) I do enjoy industrial rellics. There is an old hospital in loughborough that I have been eyeing up  :lipsrsealed:

Now i love old run down buildings/structures but these pics seem a little bland which isnt helped by the lack of clouds in the sky.

In terms of composition the 1st isnt straight, naughty naughty  and they dont give any reference to what it is or how old it is, As they say a picture should speak a thousand words.

i would have got some nice grungy shots of the rust which has great orange tones in. A wide angle lens would have been great to shoot upwards giving a sense of height

cool find though

Ladder shot will go in comp and as for context, there isnt any. Its right in the middle of a new industrial park

The last two are the best. But the ladder shot needs to be straight! Also I don't know what your focal point is, but the ladder at the bottom of the pic isn't sharp and it shows up the lack of decent light on it.

The last shot is definately my favourite, it's got interest in the sky (sun and clouds) and nice silhouetting.
