Title: Agu engine
Post by: jnufcuk on 12 May 2011, 10:17
Hi all looking at a golf with an agu engine which I know ppl say are very good. I wouldn't be looking to remap atlesst til after Xmas so was just wondering if they can still gain power without a remap or should I be looking the aum engines?

Cheers sorry if this has been asked before did a search couldn't find much

You can add a turbo back exhaust, replace the boost pipes etc but you won't see any power gains if any at all

All you can do is to ensure it has as close to the factory quoted power of 150bhp as you can so regular servicing, replace spark plugs, coil packs and any perished pipes etc

If you have any tiny faults on your car when you come to remap, the remap will multiply the problem 10 fold and you won't see the true potential of the remap

Same applies to ALL engines.  AUM has even more sensors and silly little pipework which can fail for a passtime

i'll be looking to add a 007p valve, forge pipes/tubes, air filter etc. Just to make sure the bits in the engine are new and less likely to fail :)
if i was to purchase a ko3s turbo would it just be a case of swapping the turbos wouldnt need to get new pipes/tubes etc would i? :(

cheers
