Title: Engine bay and coil packs
Post by: 1 gti on 11 May 2011, 18:43
This might be obvious but want to check. Are the coil packs the 4 black rubber things below the engine cover? As soon as you take the cover they're right on top of the block? Mine are being done tomorrow and want to make sure they're being changed not trying to get away with it. Going to Mark each one

Thanks. It's going in for the recall because my car has recently been misfiring and running lean. I've got VAG-com myself and done a scan and it said cylinder 4 misfired and random/multiple misfires. Hoping they'll do the 4 not just 1. Engine code is AUQ and it's an Anni

it only certain code ones that get changed. think it that last letter on the coil and if it a certain letter they change them. so u will have to wait and see it not all coils being replaced

From my understanding on the phone they're going to change them free. I shall have another chat with them when I drop it off and make sure. Let you know how I get off tomorrow

Does this recall apply to all AUQ's or only certain years.

Its a bit of a mix i believe.  I tried it with my AUM but they said the coils are fine, i know they're not as VAGCOM says one of the is misfiring.

However Opel got all of his changed on his AUM, so you've just gotta be lucky!

UPDDATE : just had a phone call to say all 4 have been changed but found minor problems whilst checking it over. Wipers need to be changed, I can see fine with the ones I got. Power steering fluid below minimum, told them to do that. I shall be checking coils when I collect the car as I've marked each one. My lucky day
