Title: mk4 18" tyres
Post by: benny1234black on 11 May 2011, 14:09
How much do you pay for tyres (if you have 18" alloys) either new or part worn etc.  What are the rough prices?  I know you can get diff prices but what do you pay?

About £120 each here.
I am not gonna scrimp on my tyres. They are quite important really. And I the better brands last longer.

My Potenzas are £140 each or £500 for all 4. Managed to get them down to £475 but thats still crap when the last ones only did 7000 on the front! Dont like part worns. The tyres are the only thing in contact with the road so its not too much of a sacrifice to buy the best you can get. Id love Pirelli P-Corsas but they only have 6mm to start with and are so pricey

What pressures are people using on their 18's. I have 225/40's XL and am not sure if i am putting the correct pressure in - don't want to wear them out for something so basic.
Car is a 1.8T

Thanks

Accellera 215/35/18Y Extra load - £49 each brand new! On my old MG ZR I ran these for a year doing 18k and still had about 3-4mm left on the fronts and more on the back! Good tyres for a budget!

I have always used standard pressures as per the filler cap sticker.

To be fair they did grip fairly well, I was pleasently suprised considering the cost!
