Pretty sure i've seen them mounted in the CD player slot before in a mk3, can't remember if it worked very well or not though
-
Given how hard the suspension is on a gti i would rather drink outside the car
-
I pondered on attempting to fit a set of these last year whilst rooting around at my local breakers, unfortunately That idea got ditched after discovering a US spec cupholder center console on fleabay instead.

What are those / where they from? Are they mk3 specific drink holders or modified from another vehicle? Infact are they the internals from a mk4 dash unit?
-
Not a clue....its a 1997 jap import....only have it about a month...my 1995 one didnt have it so it was a surprise to me too
-
Ooo an undiscovered part...the cupholder saga continues. :nerd:
-
Was delighted when i saw them...steering wheel is beefed up aswell...alot chunkier than my old one....but thats prob a different thread
Brian
-
I want to see the chunckier steering wheel
-
Just tried too dark even with the interior lights on...iphone fail...will post one up tomorrow...is the beefed up wheel not standard either? Just assumed they made changes since the 95 model

piccys??
I didn't bother with the front cupholders as they only fit the US left hand drive front console correctly but i have one of these rear centre console flip up lid units with pop out drinks holder and integrated boot release button.

I like the rear trim with the boot release. Gotta find one now.
-
I have yet to see the point of cup holders or indeed any that hold a cup securely.
-
Erm...so the open drink doesnt spill whilst driving, i also have a son that sits in the rear so the US spec one was ideal. Plus ive got the extra storage cubby hole for bits and pieces.
-
i have a funky black and chrome cup holder my 4 year old son bought me for my birthday as he always heard my moaning about not having one in the car.
it connects to the air vent on the very right hand side of car and holds all size of cans including redbull sizes perfect.
only cost £3
-
Pic of wheel as requested...prob standard on newer mk3s...just hadnt seen one before myself

Wow that's awesome! Bet if that was put up on E38 it'd fetch stupid amounts of money.
-
That's well cool, i want one.
-
That wheel is on steroids, looks mint
-
I believe that was an option at the time.
Vortex sold through VW, made by momo I believe.
-
That's an awesome steering wheel! If you ever sell the car make sure you sell that separately.
-
You could always go for the cost effective solution

Pic doesnt do it justice....looks very big in the pic but its not...car has recaro interior aswell....a minter....wheel and seats make it feel like im driving a totally different car...had the 1995 valver for the last 5 years...this one just feels like a different machine

MK3GTI_16V - whats the third warning light below the airbag and abs on the panel on the R/H/S of the dash? IIRC its usually towbar electrics or something but yours looks different...
-
Am I the only one that doesn't like that steering wheel?
Nothing wrong with it but I just like them round and plain.

It is a little bit batmobile... but OEM geeks love that stuff.

True each to there own and all. Not my car so it doesn't matter. Never seen one so should imagine it's worth some.

It looks like a seatbelt warning lamp, I can't say ive ever seen one of those on a mk3 before. Just the towbar light as you mention.
-
Batmobile is right...Could just add things everyday that my 97 mk3 has that my 95 doesnt...that warning is for the seat belt...pic isnt great

I wonder if you can get 'dog' warning lamps as well?

baddum tish!
-
I would imagine the 'dog' warning light was added for the mk4 non turbo.., and i think that wheel looks a bit too 'Ford RS' for my liking.
-
The wheel is a massive improvement on the previous one....excellent quality and design is perfect to handle
-
Do you have the service stamps up the inside of your door?
-
No but have a flare in the passenger foot well
