Detailers,
I have access to a Karcher HD 5/12c. I was wondering if this would be ok to clean the car with. I gave it a blast the other day on the patio and it stripped it clean. My concern this is too powerful for a car.
Here are its specs:
Power supply (Ph/V/Hz): 1/240/50
Water flow rate (l/h): 500
Operating pressure (bar/MPa): 120/12
Max. pressure (bar/MPa): 150/15
Here is a link to it: http://www.karcher.co.uk/uk/Products/Professional/Highpressure_cleaners/Cold_water_highpressure_cleaners/Cold_water_compact_class/15141030.htm
I know nothing about pressure washers xD This is a neighbours one who uses it comercially and said I can borrow it whenever.
Thanks for any advice,
-
this is fine mate, if you are able to turn the pressure down on the machine then do so but if you take it easy and dont start getting too close with the lance you shouldnt have any problems, take care round window rubbers, mouldings, etc etc.
go for it just take it easy and dont get too close with it ;)
-
Cheers for the advice, thought Id ask the question as always better to be safe then sorry :)
-
this is fine... but did you use the high power lance on the patio?* if there is a less powerful lance then use it?
if you can operate at 120bar thats about right
*thats the noisy one with the ceramic ball inside that goes round and round

Cheers Guy, the one on it atm is a rotating one. I'll have to ask my m8 for other ends for it xD

yeah.. thats the dirt blaster lance... don't use that on your motor... it won't do the car much good and the lance won't be very effective either
see if you can use the 'normal' lance as that will be fit for purpose, you don't need to use it bang close up to be effective
-
yes defintly dont use the dirt blaster on your car, use the fan attachment.

I went and bought a snow foam attachment thing today. I was all excited to turn my car white and the dam thing didnt fit. The are both Karcher and are supposed to fit.
The Karcher 5/12 is less then a year old and all Karcher attachments should be compatible.
I rang Karcher up and they said everything is push and twist to attach something. However, this pressure washer isnt. Unless Im missing something.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

post up pics of the attachments and the supposed fittings

the trigger might be karcher but the lance looks like it has an m22 (or similar) fitment on it
can you ask matey who you are borrowing this from if they have changed the lance?
-
It is as it come, it has another head which changes the angle of water but nothing to help with the snow foam.

Im wondering if the bit you hold (sorry  duno what you want to call it) Is in 3 pieces. The attachment, the bit in between the attachment and the handle. The bit in between the attachment and the handle moves a little. I don't want to try and break it though.
Diagram of my nonsense xD

right.. don't quote me on this but i 'think' the bit that moves down to the end of the lance (nozzle) is non-karcher... possibly why it moves :undecided:
edit: strike that... just had a look at the original post... you have a Karcher HD? I presume that these have different fitments? Did you specify that when you got the snowfoam bottle?

No, I assumed Karcher would be sensible and make all of their products compatible, guess not :(. Do you know where I can get the appropriate snow foam attachment for this?
And yes it is a HD... im guessing since I think its commercial, ill have to pay though the teeth for a snow foam attachment xD
-
you might be able to get one separate... that doesn't look like the most sturdy snowfoam bottle.. where did you get it from?
try elitecarcare, autobrite direct or waxamomo for the attachment

a decent one will last you longer than that plastic thing
i have used all the above sites... if you are going to buy a decent snowfoam lance then try elite as i know they do a karcher hd lance fitting... I know the guys there very well and they are efficient and always provide good quality items. use the edition38 code for a discount at elite.
