Please can someone help?
I've fitted my RNS 510-B
Had it coded on VAGCOM, cam working, MFSW working and MFD but no voice on NAV
Installed firmware 2680 but then in German and reset settings in VCDS
Installed v7 maps
Tried recoding with VAGCOM, rear cam now working, but no audio at all.
I have Dynaudio installed but what options do I choose?
Speakers front & rear or Sound system?
Dynaudio or Dynaudio BAP ?
Mic inactive? ( I havent retro-fitted a mic)
Any Ideas anyone????

i found little difference choosing front and rear or just front with a none dyna.. but you will probably have to choose front and rear with the dyna
choose dynaaudio setting tho.
but when you do see how it sounds.. if it doesn't sound 'right' then do it again with the other one..
with the mic you generally shouldn't select anything you don't have installed on the car as it might throw up error's.
in regards to the no sound.. what setting has it put it too? no sound system installed?

We've tried "front & rear" and also "Sound System" but in another byte there's 2 different options for Dyno.
I can't remember whether or not "mic inactive" was ticked.
We've had error codes for CAN CONTROLLER and MULTI-DISC(which Ive since unticked the MULT-DISC/I-POD box)
Cheers

I have the coding for a RCD510 with Dynaudio fitted. Coding: 0101004001
I know the channels would be different, but if you could cross reference them with the RNS510 it might help.
I was trying to have a look on google to see if I could find them but had no luck.
Another option is to drop an email to RossTech with an autoscan of the car, they have always been very helpful to me.

Cheers Mike,
but whats an autoscan?

It's an option in VCDS that scans the entire car with details of each modules coding.
It explains it a bit better HERE (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/autoscan.html)
It creates a txt file which can then be attached to the email.

Slightly off topic but...
I have my RNS510* C fitted which darren kindly coded for me.
I can't get voice control to work though (I installed the bluetooth phone kit myself at the weekend :) whcih works fine)
Any ideas?
Thanks
Adrian

@Buck,
Do you know if Darren also supplied the microphone cable from the Bluetooth to the RNS? I believe (and I am yet to do it and also have no voice control) that you need to pass the microphone through the RNS and then back to the Bluetooth. (I have the new iPhone capable Bluetooth kit that can also do audio to the RNS*C - is that the same as yours?)
You can see more information @ http://www.my-gti.com/1234/volkswagen-rns-510-microphone-connection-for-voice-control (http://www.my-gti.com/1234/volkswagen-rns-510-microphone-connection-for-voice-control), but it covers a number of options. A few repair connectors from VW, 5m of shielded MIC or speaker cable and job done!
I'm sending you the VCDS cable tomorrow, so you should be able to check if that's the issue when you have it. Within VCDS, you should see some errors in the Navigation module saying that the MIC is open circuit (or similar.)

Hi Sam
Thanks for the reply - I bought one of the BT boxes that's compatible wiht my iPhone4 so yes, will probably be the saem or v similar.
I bought the wiring loom set from eBay Poland(!) (Car Systems) - There were 3 connectors built into the wiring loom - two females and one male - I fastened one set together then the male from the microphone to the other female if that makes sense - I wonder if I have got them the wrong way around - I though it was OK as I could use the phone !?
I look at the above on my-gti.com and also when I get the VCDS cable I can delve a bit deeper - thanks for all your help - appreciated

@Buck:
Can you send me a link to the Bluetooth cable you bought?
Cheers, Sam.

Whitey,
When you first load VCDS and connect the car up, on the front main screen click the top middle option and run the scan, gives a list of all modules and any errors etc. From that rosstech would be able to help with what options to select for your car etc..

Still no joy! Its been back in today and cannot get the sound working. Before I updated the firmware I had sound from the stereo but no nav commands. Could I have faulty firmware or not compatible?
Anyone had problems with B units in 2011 golfs??
Not showing any errors now on VCDS.
Any ideas anyone???
-
Maybe you bought p3eps old unit  I could be wrong but I'm sure he had to replace his unit with no voice!!!

I fixed mine by downgrading the firmware back to one it was meant to be on.
I then bought an LED * version as I wanted the latest firmware without any problems!
-
Ah right.
Can I ask did you think the LED version was significantly better?
-
I think theres a good chance i,ve installed firmware to high for my B unit. Im currently installin firmware 2660. Failing this I also have 1102 version.
Fingers crossed!!

Yes and no! It's screen comes up to brightness quicker when the car is first switched on... and is slightly better in the sun.
Other than that, there is no difference - other than it works properly with my car and the latest software.
My A-Version was on a software version too high that it wasn't meant to be on. I got a utility disk and re-set it back to the original firmware it was meant to be on... which sorted it.
