Why such low RONage?

Total Excellium. Convenient location, prefer it to BP and found no improvement with Shell. In fact car runs smoother with Total. Usually pour a bit of NF Octane booster for good measure.

Yes, I am afraid I cheat a touch. The RONage increases from what I read, but I seem to get very smooth idling and running additionally. Call me old fashioned.

Shell V-Power or Tesco Momentum.

Go.

Now.

I used to use Momentum but I was told by someone in the know that Momentum has additives added to it to bring up the high RON, they recommended V-Power.

I probably use about 50/50. Not noticed any difference between the two.

Big difference on the odd occasion I've had to use 95.

I'm bluefinned so maybe that makes a difference.

To be fair I dyno'd a standard gti on the h4h doling road day with supermarket and then shell super and it made very little difference, you'd notice the differenc a lot more on a modded motor.

I'll go look for the dyno plots, gimme 2

Ha Ha! At the Goring Hotel with Pippa Middleton thrown in for good measure.
But seriously, I have found that Total Excellium is perfectly suitable. Your graphs vindicate this.

Not my experience from a mk5 or mk6. I've seen 20bhp difference on other charts.
The difference is quite noticable, you can feel it

Whowever is deleting my posts. Especially the Marquee chugga chugga.

That is an honest 7 year olds take on the noise of a diesel engined Golf.

Banter.

Please PM me if there is good reason why my posts are being deleted.

There is one question I have. Regardless of the RON, don't some of the fuels combust better than others? I was told Total Excellium had excellent combustion properties and was a very 'clean' fuel.

One of the reasons I use Total Excellium 97 RON is because the guys at Power Enhancer recommended this fuel to me. They felt it was the best available in their opinion. They did give me some reasons but I have forgotten these. I have also felt it gave me smoothist idling and excellent mpg.
I don't wish to open a can of worms, but thought I should air this.

If you are using 97 RON with additives then you are somewhere near 99/100.

Weird goings on around here tonight - looks like someone has given their admin password to their 5 year old daughter/grandaughter.
