Hi all, i have just brought a MK4 1600. I am looking to lower the car as it is currently looking like an "oil rig" sitting on 18"s.
I have been looking around for other MK4's that have lowered there car so i can see how much they have lowered there car by but i can't find any (too many old people driving nice cars)!!!
i have measured the car and i think i need 2 different sizes, 50mm on the back and 40mm on the front.
One thing i must stress is i don't want to have to worry about the arches rubbing or any mod's of the arches.
Is this right?
How much will it affect the drive of the car?
What size can i go to?

Hello.
Mines lowered 40mm all round. You're right that the back could do with being a bit lower. I went for Eibach springs - still get a pretty good ride, but nicely firmed up.
Obviously the size of the rims dont matter as long as you keep the total wheel+tyre diamter correct at about 636mm. You'll need 225/40/18 tyres (or 225/45/17 if you go for 17 inch rims).

I've got 225/40/18. How does the ride feel with 40mm lowered? Can you post a pic of the tyer's and the body close up so i can see the difference in height please

Sorry mate - haven't got any suitable pics. I'll try and take some soonish, and I'll add em to my gallery.
Ride feels alright, but you feel the potholes more!!

Got 40mm Eibach springs going on mine next month, nice to know that the ride isn't f**ked up, thanks for that
