Title: Choices choices..
Post by: ashw831 on 06 May 2011, 20:07
I am getting towards leaving the derv scene now, as it has almost served its purpose of getting me some pennies in the bank, so i am stuck as to where to go after this. I have a realy bad craving for a mk1 leon cupra r in yellow, but then i have had two mk4 golfs and loved them. I know they are almots the same car underneath, just different bodies on top.
Opinions guys?

Leon is a good choice, I nearly went for one, the yellow seems to fade badly however.

Leons are cool. I think they look better than the mk4 as standard.

Agreed! Make sure it's a 225bhp with the BAM engine though

That was only in the Cupra R and early ones were 210bhp, a 180bhp will remap to the same in any case.

I came really close to buying a 180bhp Leon Cupra however the insurance was a lot more than the Octavia which is not a lot slower plus the only real difference is no 6th gear.

As Wayne says, the 210's map to the same as the 225's, but i cant help wanting the 225 BAM more though, it is a more well known engine (to me anyway).

i think they look better too, and with the right tlc and polishing they yellow should stay i hope. I am looking at getting one off the seatcupra forum hoping that they are going to be the best looked after ones and not replaced with cheap crappy parts.

I have found that they are cheaper too, i could have got a 2003 with 60k on the clock and mapped to 260 for around 4k, and i cannot see many mk4s that offer the same ammount of power, with that low miles on the web.

I think Leon is going to be the way, have only seen one around where i live too which is a bonus as i dont like fitting in with my cars :-)
