Title: What's the crack with P1 Polish???
Post by: asif on 06 May 2011, 12:37
Anyone here use it?

Is it any good?

Here's a link http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/polishing/p1-nanocomposite-polish/

For that kinda price, if it's good stuff it's well worth it IMO.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this product.

Cheers

I'm not a fan at all.  It makes a right mess in terms of dusting etc and dries out very quickly.  I'm seen some very quick, impressive results from it though, but I'd rather work with Menzerna or 3M polishes as I like the way they break down and I've been using them for 2-3 years, so changing the way I polish doesn't feel natural.

If you are doing the odd car though, and don't mind the mess and have a DA, then P1 may be a good choice.

What a DA mate?

By the sounds of it i'm gonna go with what I was going to do which is Collinite 845 or something like that, the insulator wax which apparently last ages.

Sorry, DA is a dual action polisher, like the Megs G220

Are you after a protection product?

P1 is a polish which is used to remove swirls and light scratches.  Colli 845 is a wax, which you'd use to protect your paintwork, so totally different things.  The GTechniq equivelant is C2 sealant.  However, if you're after a decent wax to protect your car, then Colli 845 is a great choice - it's one of the most durable and easiest to use out there.  Plus Waxamomo does it at a great price! (£13 I think?)

Just remember to give it a good shake up when you get it, as it gets quite gloopy when its been sat for a while.

Hope this helps.

Russ.

Cheers Russ for the info, think i'll give this a miss, collinite 845 is the wax I intend on using because of the reviews i've read regards how long it lasts.

It's the bit before the wax that i'm confused about, I want to clay the car but not sure what goes between the clay and the wax.

I wanted to use poorboys black hole as that's supposed to be ace for black cars. Would I need to clay, some kind of polish, the blakc hole then the collinite???

Detailing is quite confusing as to what order you use stuff.
