Title: Another newbie

Hi all,

I recently acquired my first Golf, it's a 96 Mk3 1.4L. I will upload pictures as soon as I can.

The only advice I could do with is about the top end of the engine tapping slightly and the bottom end dripping oil. The engine has done 127,000 with P.S.H upto 2009 (the last service being only 8000 miles ago). The person I bought it off did tell me that the tapping would go off when warm but as long as I've owned it it hasn't stopped tapping (including the 60 mile trip back from collecting it).

Any overall advice about ownership and with the matters I have mentioned would be most appreciated and I hope this forum will be most useful.

Sorry mate this is a Gti forum and 1.4's dont really make it! :wink: :grin:
Yea have a look in the Mk3 section mate, loads of useful info there even on 1.4's!

I actually thought about that, is there any plain golf based forums you can recommend?
