Thanks folks!

MAW73: no plans as such.  Just see how it goes in "plain vanilla" first.

AM1W: I know, I know, I know..17" but 18" just doesn't suit the potted/badly finished roads round here.  I had a thorough test drive first in a big wheeler to confirm, and coming from an agricultural background, fat, luxurious energy absorbing rubber on the road is where my heart is.  And anyway once the vehicle is moving who can tell?  But fully appreciate the view.

ajmoir36:  Well I just got in there in the nick of time, the dealer told me colour mfd no longer an option for the moment.

The journey begins

Nice car. Definately nicer than a bit of agricultural machinery, even if it has small wheels.
I'm sure you'll be very happy together.

That tool chest looks quite impressive too. It probably cost nearly as much as your GTI!

Yeah, it will be an early start for a Saturday.

Will be very interested to see how it compares to the mk 5 which has been faultless and best Golf I have ever owned.

Will be working on some photographs, and video of the more dynamic elements etc

It doesn't have xenons, so I certainly hope Mr lowdown didn't spec them!
You've not been drinking have you richy? C'mon own up!

Post by: richyrb on 06 May 2011, 04:39
Lol no but I will be in 13 hours. I was just asking as I know there are the lED lights on the builds this year and was wondering if it was just with xenons..
Title: Re: New GTi
Post by: Exonian on 06 May 2011, 04:53
   Ah, gotcha.

I've only seen the LEDs on the xenon cars, I've yet to see a halogen equipped car with anything other than those nasty yellow H15 DRLs so far.
I swtiched mine off. Call me vain!

The fairy lights are only available with the xenons, though who'd want that silly little row of pearls is beyond me.

I would not be too sure of that, my dear.
At least her pearls hang properly, though personally I'd like them more like a choker.
Princess Diana wore one of these quite well, but then look what happened to her.

Dead right it's sinking in at last,
and just been for a final blast,
of the awesome MK 5
and thankfully no arrest.

Thanks

You will find that the mk6 has a much nicer interior than the mk5 with better plastics.  Wishing you all the very best with the new car.

So, home and dry now.

It's quite different to the MK5 very smooth, refined, luxury feel to be quite honest.

Full report to follow.

Absolutely stunning vehicle.

haha fairy lights. tbh i quite like then although wish they would just keep it simple and not make it all designer.. the new range rovers are the worst..

agree on the LED lights should have been kept simple, elegant and not too fancy, the Audi S3 LEds are the best i have seen very sleek and stylish!!

agree with you taff..

some are also wayyyy to bright.. porsche 911 and audi A5/S5/RS5..

from my knowledge and someone correct me if im wrong, the whole DLR is from european countries where its law on new cars.. for visibility reason, then marketing caught on... and thats where we are today...

sometime it just needs to be left alone.. functional not designer..

sorry for the hijack OP ... oops
