Evening Guys,
I'm looking for a front seat cover for my wife's 2011 GTD, so as too keep it in good condition and to stop the side bolster from wearing. I can't seem to find one that's a good, snug fit anywhere.
Can anyone recommend a good quality one?
Thanks in advance
Pete

+1 i'd like to get a couple for my front seats as they're starting to show signs of wear.

Do you wear jeans? It seems this mode of clothing is to blame for seat wear. Even leather is not safe.

I do, most of the time actually although i try my best not to touch the bolsters too much when getting in and out but it obviously hasn't helped much.

Jean material is hard wearing and was originally meant for cowboys, yee haa, with a horse belly between their legs/thighs. There is obviously friction between your rump and the seat when the car moves. Ditch the jeans and drive in the nude. Me: I wear soft cotton slacks or wool. Jeans also give you bald legs especially on the thighs. Not nice IMO.

My legs are far from bald! i think a seat cover is the way forward you strange fruit!

Now seat covers never fit that good but if all she is worrying about is keeping them in good condition and of course they have to colour match have you tried a Google?

Halfords.
£24.99.
Black with a red panel which covers the headrest. Think they have "sport" written on them however which may put you off.... They may come in other colours as well but I have a black GTi so this ties in okay.
Fit pretty well however the right corner can come off when you get out the car so you have to fit it under the seat when you get back in. Not too much hassle to be honest.

Won't fitting seat covers stop the front seat-mounted airbags deploying correctly in the event of an accident?

A very good point.
I know there was a lot of interest in seat covers when the Fabia vRS was first launched, it had very light grey bolsters on the seats which marked very easily. There was a company that made tailor made covers for that car at the request of the owners on briskoda. Hatchbag or something they were called.
There are seatcovers available for cars with seat airbags but they will tend to be tailor fitted ones with special sections that will allow the seat airbags to deploy.
A local specialist vehicle upholsterer/motor trimmer would be able to custom make some covers for a price.

The covers from Halfords are constructed in such a way that allows the side air bags to deploy when required. Hopefully never.
Hope that helps.

These are not cheap but I got some of these and they are excellent quality and no quibble exchange if they are faulty i.e you put them in the washer and they shrink on a 90 deg wash

I got a pair in Wilkinsons, designed for use with seat air bags - £5.99 for the two. Just the job to sling over the seats when you need them. (haven't tried them in the Golf yet so I can't verify the fit, only use them in the wifes car which I use as the work horse)

The elastic rubs the side bolster causing bolster ware due to the large bolsters on the GTI.

Thanks for the replies guys. Will try the ones from Halfords first and see how I get on.

I simply cannot fathom why people wear roughly woven clothing and then complain their cloth seats are being rubbed to destruction. Even leather cannot withstand the Jean jacket and trouser generation. Buy and ride a horse or donkey instead.
