Title: Flapper mod - NFI
Post by: savvasa on 02 May 2011, 16:30
Guys does anyone know if the "flapper" mod can be done on a GTI (not r32)?

Everything I can find is on the r32!

Im looking at the flapper mod because my golf is the family car and I still want to be able to drive like a "normal" person, instead of a boy racer (as my wife puts it!)

If it cant be done, are there any cheap(ish)/simple mods that I can do to my GTI to increase the exhaust noise? I dont want to buy a new exhaust.

As usual, thanks in advance!

Chop the catalytic converter out. Not that much louder, but sounds better :)

+ extra performance

- potentially fail MOT

OR

Chop one of the rear silencers out

+ sounds better

- none

Keano, this sounds like a goer! is it something i can do, or would i need to get a mechanic involved? Obviously im on the net researching right now, but any pointers would be great!

Cheers

Just any custom exhaust place. Try Powerflow or Pipewerx.

Should only cost £40 to weld a straight 2.5" pipe in it's place.
