Title: gti front calipers
Post by: nikkiy9 on 02 May 2011, 15:03
hey guys, is there much difference between the CL and GTI calipers??

went to bleed my brakes today to find that the bleed nipple will snap if i try to loosen it, so i've bought some GTI's,

will these fit my cuddent discs or will i need larger discs?? also are the location bolts in the same position or do i need to make a new location plate??

If you're going to fit the GTI calipers you'll need the carrier brackets, discs and pads as they're bigger than the CL ones.

A breakers yard is your best and cheapest bet.

Failing that there always shed loads of mk3 GTI's been broken for spares on ebay.

Are all golf hubs the same with the carriers added as extra?

It depends what you currently have on the car atm.If you have 239mm discs then the caliper is bolted straight onto the hub.
If they look like this

Then you currently have 239mm discs which means to get the new calipers to fit you will need a complete hub set up.
If they look like this

They could be 256/280mm discs.
