Hey Guys,
Yes it is a polo go a golf forum xD Sorry
I have been looking at and MK4 Phase 2 Polo GTI and seem to come up trumps for what I need. What should I be looking out for e.g. cam belt, water pump at X miles etc...
Thanks
Images for reference. (Not the one im buying)

Body panels differ from the golf, so look out for those. Also likely to have different lights, different interior and different lights. Wheels also may not be the same size.

I love those cars, would like one myself  The engine is the same as the mk4 GTI but I'm not sure which engine code it is. Some decent tyres are a must as apparently it can be a bit slippy off the line  I haven't heard of many other problems to be honest, just the usual 1.8T stuff of coil packs and the odd split boost pipe.

The only problems ive come across is split washer pipes which can be a pain and also soak the interior

awww it's a baby mk5 Golf

do they come with turbo engine?

1.8T
that would be a nice pocket rocket then

nice looking car be interested to know if vw have sorted problems like pedal box and ignition switch that the earlier models suffered with.

I'd say that's closer to the original Golf GTIs than the new Golf flavour offerings.
Small car, big engine rather than big car, big engine.

Aren't these Polos similar in size to the MK2 Golf?

My point exactly.

I like the size of the latest Golfs, although it probably won't be long before they turn into Boras, or even Passats! Then the Polo will be the same size as the current Golfs, and then the Lupo will be the similar in size to the MK2 Golf.
Do you see the pattern?

You've just blown my mind.
I must say that the comfortable size of the Mk3 was what drew me to it... especially as a bigger boy.
